The drawing is what makes this one. Look closely and the butterflies are properly observed — veined wings, a moth with eye spots, seed heads gone over. Step back and it reads as a warm ivory square with a saffron edge, which is a far easier thing to wear than a busy floral. Silk warms to the skin and stays where you put it. This one travels flat in a bag, comes out uncreased, and finishes an outfit you had already decided on.

Silk rewards a little care. Hand wash it in cool water below 30 °C with a mild, non-alkalinedetergent — never washing powder, soap or bleach — and press out the water without wringing.Dry it flat away from direct sunlight, and iron on the lowest setting with the printed sideface down.

Dry cleaning is always safe. Between wears, hang it loose or roll it rather thanfolding along the same creases.

Perfume and hairspray mark silk, so apply them first and let them dry before you tie it on.

**Head coverings and hair accessories.** For hygiene reasons, items worn against the hair orscalp cannot be returned or exchanged once removed from their packaging, unless faulty.
